The management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has received a donation of books and computer systems for its Faculty of Pharmacy from renowned pharmacist, elder statesman and former Minister of Health, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi.
The donation was formally presented during a courtesy visit to the university management led by representatives of the donor under the leadership of the Chief Executive Officer of Merit Healthcare Limited, Pharm. Lolu Ojo, FPSN.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Williams Oluwole Adebayo, described the gesture as a major contribution towards strengthening pharmaceutical education and improving learning facilities within the institution.
Professor Adebayo commended Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi for his commitment to educational development and professional advancement in the health sector, noting that the donation would greatly enhance teaching, learning and research activities in the Faculty of Pharmacy.
He stated that the university management remains committed to providing a conducive academic environment capable of producing competent healthcare professionals who can contribute meaningfully to national development.
According to him, the donation reflects the importance of collaboration between educational institutions, industry leaders and distinguished professionals in advancing quality education and human capital development in Nigeria.
Speaking during the presentation, Pharm. Lolu Ojo explained that the donation was part of Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi’s lifelong passion for supporting academic excellence, professional development and capacity building among younger generations of pharmacists and healthcare practitioners.
He noted that books and digital learning tools remain essential resources for modern pharmaceutical education, stressing that access to quality academic materials would help students develop the knowledge and practical competence required in the healthcare profession.
The delegation also praised the management of Ekiti State University for its continued efforts towards repositioning the Faculty of Pharmacy as a centre of excellence in pharmaceutical training and research.
Members of the university community who witnessed the presentation described the donation as timely and impactful, especially at a period when many tertiary institutions are seeking improved technological and academic resources to meet global educational standards.
The donated items are expected to support students’ academic activities, improve access to professional learning materials and strengthen digital learning within the Faculty of Pharmacy.
