The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted the public to the activities of fraudsters operating fake online recruitment portals for the engagement of examination supervisors ahead of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, NECO disclosed that the fraudulent websites have been soliciting payments from unsuspecting applicants and requesting personal academic credentials under the guise of recruitment.
The examination body clarified that it does not charge any fee for teachers seeking to serve as supervisors during its examinations, urging interested applicants to disregard any platform demanding payment as a condition for recruitment.
NECO explained that, in line with recommendations aimed at strengthening examination quality and integrity, it has migrated from the traditional manual recruitment process for supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully digital system.
According to the Council, only qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old, are eligible to apply for supervisory roles in the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination through its official recruitment portal.
The Council stressed that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any third party.
NECO noted that the new system is designed to eliminate fraudulent practices in supervisor recruitment, strengthen examination monitoring, curb malpractice, and enhance transparency and credibility in the conduct of public examinations.
The examination body revealed that over 22,000 supervisors will be engaged nationwide to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15.
NECO advised members of the public, particularly teachers interested in participating in the exercise, to remain vigilant and verify all recruitment information through official Council channels.
