Stransact Chartered Accountants, a member firm of RSM International, has launched a new graduate talent initiative aimed at recognising outstanding final-year students and strengthening the transition from academic excellence to professional success.
The initiative, known as the Stransact Honours Roll, is designed to celebrate exceptional graduating students in selected Nigerian universities while connecting them with career development opportunities and practical industry exposure.
In a statement announcing the programme, the firm disclosed that the scheme would annually recognise five graduating students each from 20 Nigerian universities selected through the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
According to the organisation, the beneficiaries will be drawn from key academic disciplines, including Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology, Business and Accounting, as well as Law and Humanities.
Each recipient under the programme is expected to receive a cash award of ₦100,000, formal recognition as a Stransact Honours Roll awardee, and an invitation to participate in the Stransact Talent Vault, a professional development platform established to equip graduates with industry-relevant competencies.
Speaking at the unveiling of the initiative, the Managing Partner of Stransact Chartered Accountants, Mr. Eben Joels, described the programme as a strategic investment in the future workforce and an effort to bridge the gap between academic achievement and employability.
“As a firm committed to developing future-ready talent, we are delighted to introduce the Stransact Honours Roll,” Joels said.
“This merit-based initiative celebrates exceptional final-year students in top-ranked Nigerian universities and connects them to meaningful opportunities,” he added.
He explained that beyond rewarding outstanding academic performance, the programme seeks to nurture graduates who possess the ethical values, innovative mindset and execution capabilities required to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving professional environment.
Joels also commended the universities selected to participate in the initiative, noting that their inclusion reflected their commitment to academic excellence and global competitiveness.
“Inclusion in this programme is a testament to the dedication of these universities to academic excellence, research impact and global relevance. We celebrate their leadership, faculty and students,” he stated.
The Stransact Honours Roll forms part of the organisation’s broader talent development agenda, with the Stransact Talent Vault (STV) serving as a key pillar of the initiative.
According to Joels, the Talent Vault is specifically designed to provide graduates with opportunities for practical skills acquisition, professional mentorship and exposure to workplace realities.
“STV is the cornerstone of our approach to building a pipeline of ethical, innovative and execution-focused professionals,” he explained.
Education stakeholders have increasingly advocated stronger partnerships between universities and the private sector to address concerns surrounding graduate unemployment and skills mismatch.
Experts argue that initiatives that combine academic recognition with structured professional development opportunities can help prepare graduates for the demands of the labour market while encouraging a culture of excellence within tertiary institutions.
The launch of the Stransact Honours Roll also comes at a time when many employers are placing greater emphasis on practical competencies, adaptability and ethical leadership in their recruitment processes.
By identifying and supporting high-performing students before they transition into the workforce, observers say the programme has the potential to contribute to the development of a highly skilled and globally competitive talent pool.
For beneficiaries, the initiative represents not only a reward for years of academic dedication but also an opportunity to access networks and experiences that could shape their future careers.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with graduate unemployment and concerns over workforce readiness, interventions that foster collaboration between academia and industry are increasingly being viewed as essential components of sustainable national development.
