The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has completed the marking of scripts for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), paving the way for the release of candidates’ results in the coming weeks.
Although reports circulating on social media claim the results will be released on Monday, August 3, WAEC has yet to officially announce a release date.
The examination body had earlier assured candidates that the results would be published within 45 days after the final paper, in line with its established timeline for processing school candidates’ results.
The post-examination process includes collation of scripts, marking, result compilation, quality assurance checks and the investigation of suspected examination malpractice before the final release.
Ahead of the release, candidates have been advised to disregard unverified information circulating online and await an official announcement from WAEC through its recognised communication channels.
The Council has maintained that updates on the release of the 2026 WASSCE results will be communicated through its official website and verified social media platforms.
If WAEC follows its usual schedule, the results are expected to be available in the first week of August, but the exact date will only become official after the Council issues a formal statement.
