The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) in recognition of his leadership contributions and commitment to advancing project management practice within Nigeria’s higher education system.
The prestigious Fellowship was awarded during the 7th CIPMN Induction Ceremony held on June 25, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Nigerian Army Headquarters Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja. The recognition is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, strategic planning and the successful execution of projects that contribute to institutional and national development.
The honour was formally presented to the Vice-Chancellor on Monday, July 20, when the Head of the Department of Project Management Technology, Dr. Dorothy Ladi Baba, who represented him at the induction ceremony, handed over the Fellowship certificate and commemorative plaque during a brief presentation at his office in the Senate Building of the university’s main campus.
Receiving the award, Professor Kuta expressed gratitude to the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria for the recognition, describing it as both an honour and a motivation to deepen his commitment to professional excellence, accountability and effective institutional leadership.
He stated that the Fellowship would further strengthen his resolve to promote sound project management principles in the administration of the university, particularly in the planning, execution and monitoring of academic, research and infrastructural projects aimed at improving teaching and learning.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that efficient project management remains an essential component of sustainable university development, especially as institutions continue to expand academic programmes, modernise infrastructure, strengthen research capacity and improve service delivery.
Under contemporary university administration, project management has become increasingly important in ensuring that capital projects, digital transformation initiatives, research grants and educational interventions are completed within approved timelines, budgets and quality standards. Institutions that embrace these principles are often better positioned to maximise available resources and deliver measurable outcomes.
Established by Act No. 3 of 2018, the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria serves as the statutory professional body responsible for regulating, developing and promoting project management practice across both the public and private sectors. The institute also sets professional standards, certifies practitioners and encourages the adoption of globally recognised project management principles in organisational governance.
The Fellowship conferred on Professor Kuta adds to the growing recognition of university administrators whose leadership continues to drive institutional transformation, strategic planning and sustainable development within Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
