Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has rewarded two outstanding indigenes who emerged as the overall best and second-best graduating students at the 2026 Nigerian Law School graduation ceremony with ₦5 million each and pledged to sponsor their postgraduate studies abroad.
The governor announced the rewards during a reception held for the exceptional graduates in Ilorin, describing the gesture as a recognition of academic excellence and a deliberate investment in the future of education and leadership in Kwara State.
The beneficiaries are Israel Adekunle Adeniyi from Offa, who emerged as the overall best graduating student at the 2026 Nigerian Law School graduation in Abuja, and Oluwatomisin Promise Daniel, an indigene of Idofin Igbana in Oke Ero Local Government Area, who finished as the second-best graduating student nationwide. Both scholars are graduates of the University of Ilorin before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School.
Governor AbdulRazaq said the recognition was aimed at celebrating hard work, resilience and intellectual excellence while encouraging other young people across the state to pursue academic distinction.
According to him, the remarkable achievements of the two young lawyers have brought honour to Kwara State and demonstrated that dedication to education remains one of the surest pathways to success.
Beyond the cash reward of ₦5 million each, the governor pledged to finance their Master’s degree programmes at reputable Ivy League universities or other recognised institutions abroad once they secure admission. He explained that the state government would support their aspirations as part of its commitment to developing globally competitive professionals.
The governor noted that the gesture reflects his administration’s continued emphasis on rewarding excellence and creating opportunities for talented students to maximise their academic potential.
He also dismissed the growing narrative that education no longer guarantees success, stating that the accomplishments of the two graduates serve as strong evidence that commitment, discipline and academic excellence continue to open doors to national and international opportunities.
According to AbdulRazaq, their achievements should inspire students across Kwara State and Nigeria to remain focused on their studies despite prevailing challenges.
The governor congratulated the graduates for their exceptional performance and wished them greater success in their legal careers, expressing confidence that they would continue to distinguish themselves while contributing meaningfully to the legal profession and national development.
The latest reward further reinforces Kwara State’s growing investment in education and human capital development. In recent years, the AbdulRazaq administration has expanded bursaries and scholarship schemes for students, including increased financial support for Nigerian Law School students, as part of broader efforts to improve access to quality education and encourage academic excellence.
