The Registrar of the University of Ibadan, Mr Ganiyu Saliu, is scheduled to deliver the 12th Annual Registry Discourse of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, on Friday, August 14, 2026.
The annual discourse, which will take place at the Great Hall of LAUTECH from 10 a.m., is themed, “The Future-Ready University Registry: Leading Institutional Transformation in an Era of Change.”
The programme is expected to examine the evolving responsibilities of university registries and the need for administrative structures within higher institutions to adapt to changes in technology, institutional governance and the demands of modern university management.
The choice of the theme reflects the increasing importance of efficient administrative systems in the operation of contemporary universities, where registries play central roles in areas including student administration, staff records, academic processes, institutional governance and policy implementation.
The discourse will provide an opportunity for university administrators and members of the academic community to examine how registry operations can be strengthened to support institutional efficiency and respond effectively to emerging challenges in higher education.
The Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, Oluyinka Akinyode, disclosed details of the programme in a statement on Monday, confirming Saliu as the guest lecturer.
The event is also expected to provide a platform for discussions around institutional transformation, particularly as universities increasingly adopt digital systems for record management, communication, student services and other administrative processes.
For university registries, the transition towards technology-driven administration presents both opportunities and responsibilities, requiring administrators to combine traditional institutional knowledge with emerging digital competencies and new approaches to service delivery.
The discourse is therefore expected to focus not only on the administrative functions of university registries but also on how registry leadership can contribute to broader institutional transformation.
The Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Professor Razaq Olatunde Rom Kalilu, will serve as the chief host of the event.
The 12th Annual Registry Discourse comes at a time when Nigerian universities are increasingly seeking to modernise administrative processes and improve the efficiency of services provided to students, staff and other members of their university communities.
The engagement is expected to contribute to ongoing conversations on how university administration can remain responsive, innovative and capable of supporting institutions pursuing academic excellence and sustainable development.
