The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening service delivery, accountability and institutional effectiveness across the university.
Kida made the commitment during a meeting with staff of the Directorate of the Servicom Unit, led by its Acting Director, Mrs Helen Bello.
The engagement focused on the role of the directorate in promoting responsive and efficient service delivery within the university, particularly in ensuring that staff, students and other stakeholders receive quality services.
During the meeting, the Servicom Directorate presented a congratulatory plaque to the Vice-Chancellor and decorated him with a Servicom-branded vest and face cap, symbolising his position as the university’s Chief Servicom Officer.
The gesture also highlighted the responsibility of the university management to uphold the principles of accountability, transparency, responsiveness and effective service delivery in its dealings with members of the university community.
Bello stressed the importance of the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership in ensuring that service standards are maintained across the institution.
She noted that effective leadership and institutional support were essential to enabling the directorate to carry out its mandate and improve the quality of services provided to students, staff and other members of the university community.
The Acting Director also appealed to the university management to provide the directorate with the necessary work tools and resources required to effectively monitor service delivery and respond to areas where improvements are needed.
Responding, Kida commended the Servicom Directorate for its efforts towards improving service delivery at FULafia.
He particularly acknowledged its regular assessment of service points and identification of areas requiring attention, noting that such monitoring was important for continuous institutional improvement.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the directorate of his administration’s support for initiatives designed to promote accountability, responsiveness and improved performance across the university.
He indicated that strengthening service delivery would remain an important component of his administration’s efforts to make the university more effective and responsive to the needs of its students, staff and other stakeholders.
The engagement therefore reinforced the importance of Servicom mechanisms in monitoring institutional services and identifying areas where administrative processes can be improved.
The commitment could further strengthen efforts to build an institutional culture in which accountability, responsiveness and continuous assessment form part of everyday university administration.
