The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Professor Segun Aina, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving customer-oriented service delivery and ensuring that candidates receive more efficient and responsive services from the examination body.
Aina made the commitment on Friday, August 14, 2026, during his maiden official visit to some of JAMB’s outstation offices, where he interacted with staff and familiarised himself with their operations, working conditions and challenges.
The Registrar expressed appreciation to staff members for the reception accorded him and urged them to demonstrate the resilience, adaptability and professionalism required to respond to the changing demands of the service environment.
He said JAMB would continue to deploy deliberate strategies, innovative initiatives and appropriate technologies to improve its operations and enhance candidates’ experiences throughout the admission process.
Aina stressed that quality customer service remained central to JAMB’s responsibilities, particularly given the large number of young Nigerians who interact with the Board annually in connection with the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and university, polytechnic and college admissions.
He assured staff that management would provide the necessary tools, training and institutional support to enable them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
The Registrar also encouraged employees to embrace teamwork and maintain a shared sense of responsibility in dealing with candidates, particularly members of Generation Z, who constitute a significant proportion of JAMB’s clientele.
He noted that the expectations of young candidates were changing alongside developments in technology and digital communication, making it necessary for the Board’s personnel to adapt their approach to service delivery.
According to Aina, every interaction between a JAMB official and a candidate provides an opportunity either to strengthen or weaken public confidence in the Board.
“We must all come together to build trust and reduce trauma,” he said, urging staff to remain courteous, responsive and solution-driven when attending to candidates’ concerns.
The Registrar’s emphasis on customer experience comes as JAMB continues to handle large-scale examination and admission-related processes involving prospective students seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
For candidates, effective service delivery can be particularly important during periods of registration, examination, result processing and admission, when delays, unclear information or difficulties accessing services can create considerable anxiety.
Aina therefore charged staff at the various stations to ensure that candidates receive accurate information and appropriate assistance while maintaining the integrity and procedures of the Board.
He also emphasised the importance of technology in improving service delivery, suggesting that innovation would remain an important component of efforts to make interactions between JAMB and its candidates more efficient.
Staff members at the stations visited congratulated Aina on his appointment as Registrar and expressed their willingness to support his administration. They also wished him a successful and impactful tenure.
The visit provided the Registrar with an opportunity to engage directly with frontline personnel and gain first-hand insight into the operational realities confronting JAMB offices outside its headquarters.
The development signals an emphasis by the new administration on strengthening the relationship between the examination body and the millions of young Nigerians who depend on its services as they seek admission into higher education.
