The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with admission offers dating from 2021 to accept or reject the outstanding offers.
The new deadline is September 30, 2026, giving affected candidates an additional month to regularise their admission status.
JAMB had initially fixed August 31, 2026 as the deadline for candidates with pending admission offers, including regular and CUIIA admissions, to indicate whether they wished to accept or reject them.
The Board said the extension represents the final opportunity for affected candidates to take action on their outstanding offers.
Candidates who intend to retain their previous admission are expected to accept the offer before the new deadline. Those who accept will be able to print their admission letters and complete the necessary processes.
Candidates who no longer wish to retain the offers are also required to reject them. JAMB said rejected offers would cause the candidates’ dashboards to revert to “Not Admitted”, allowing the Board to update its national admission records.
The Board also provided guidance for candidates whose circumstances have changed since they received their earlier offers.
Candidates who have moved to another institution or are studying a different programme may accept their outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the relevant correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary.
Similarly, candidates who have since commenced a second degree but still have an unaccepted previous admission may reject the earlier offer and continue with their current programme.
JAMB clarified that candidates who have received admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have an older pending offer should not be concerned about the effect of rejecting the previous admission.
According to the Board, rejecting the earlier offer will not adversely affect a candidate’s 2026 admission.
JAMB said the extension was intended to give candidates sufficient opportunity to regularise their records while enabling the Board to maintain accurate and up-to-date national admission data.
The Board, however, warned that there would be no further extension after September 30.
It said any admission offer from 2021 to date that remains neither accepted nor rejected at the expiration mof the deadline will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” and will remain so in JAMB’s records.
The Board therefore urged all affected candidates to check their admission status and take the necessary action before the deadline, warning that failure to accept an offer within the stipulated period will render it invalid.
