The management of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, has disowned a viral notice claiming that newly admitted students are expected to sign the institution’s matriculation list on September 23, 2026.
The university described the circulating information as false and unauthorised, urging newly admitted 100-Level and Direct Entry students for the 2025/2026 academic session to disregard it.
In a clarification signed by the Registrar, Mrs Olayinka Balogun, LAUTECH said the matriculation list signing exercise had not commenced, noting that the institution was currently on break and that no Faculty Office was conducting the exercise.
The management said the actual date for the commencement of the signing exercise would be communicated to students through the university’s official channels after resumption.
The clarification followed confusion generated by a viral notice that directed newly admitted students to appear for the signing of the matriculation list on September 23.
However, LAUTECH explained that an earlier internal memo dated August 24, 2026, which confirmed that matriculation lists had been distributed to the relevant faculties, did not fix September 23 as the date for students to begin signing.
The memo directed Faculty Officers to ensure that newly admitted 100-Level and Direct Entry students signed against their names and that three completed copies of the lists were returned to the Registrar’s Office on or before September 30, 2026.
The university stressed that September 30 was the deadline for faculties to submit the completed matriculation lists to the Registrar’s Office and should not be interpreted as confirmation of the September 23 date circulating online.
LAUTECH therefore advised affected students and members of the public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels.
The development highlights the growing challenge of unverified information circulating online during admission periods, often causing confusion and unnecessary concern among newly admitted students and their parents.
The university assured students that an official announcement would be made once the matriculation list signing exercise is scheduled to commence.
