The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from August 31 to September 30, 2026.
The extension covers outstanding admission offers dating from 2021 to 2026 and gives affected candidates additional time to complete the admission process through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
The development comes amid concerns over the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, with some candidates reportedly awaiting their National Examinations Council (NECO) results to address gaps in their West African Examinations Council results.
The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) disclosed the development following a meeting with the Minister of Education to discuss concerns surrounding the conduct and results of the 2026 WASSCE.
According to NAPPS, candidates affected by issues with their WASSCE results may use their NECO results for verification once released, where applicable.
The association also said the West African Examinations Council would conduct remarking requested by schools at no cost, as concerns over the 2026 examination results continue to be reviewed.
NAPPS clarified that the August 31 deadline previously announced by JAMB related to the 2025/2026 admission exercise and not the 2026/2027 academic session.
Candidates with outstanding admission offers are advised to log into their JAMB CAPS profiles, monitor their admission status and ensure that their O’Level results are correctly uploaded for verification.
The extension is expected to give affected candidates more time to resolve outstanding admission requirements before the new September 30 deadline.
