A fire outbreak on Thursday destroyed parts of Queen Elizabeth Hall, a female students’ hostel at the University of Ibadan. The fire affected the offices of the Hall Warden and the Secretary.
Queen Elizabeth Hall, known as the first female hall of residence at the institution, houses female undergraduates. The cause of the fire remains unknown as investigations continue.
Firefighters from the University Fire Service promptly intervened, containing the blaze and preventing further damage.
The institution’s Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Joke Akinpelu, confirmed the incident during a telephone interview. “Yes, it is true. The office of the Warden and the office of the Secretary of the Warden were affected,” she stated.
Efforts are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
