The Federal Ministry of Education has ordered all tertiary institutions in Nigeria to publicly advertise all job vacancies to ensure transparency and fairness in recruitment.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, issued the directive in a statement on Thursday, stressing that institutions with recruitment waivers must publish available positions in at least one national daily, on their websites, and in relevant academic and professional journals.
This policy follows the waivers granted to institutions based on their manpower needs, as part of the Ministry’s drive to strengthen Nigeria’s higher education system.
Institutions must also submit their recruitment plans for prior approval by the Committee on Waiver and Recruitment. Non-compliance will result in disciplinary action.
The Ministry warned that it has put in place mechanisms to ensure compliance and will apply sanctions to any institution found violating the directive.
