The Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has named Prof. Aminu Ado as its new acting Vice-Chancellor, following a special Senate meeting held on Monday.
Prof. Ado, a distinguished academic in Environmental and Public Health Microbiology, holds a PhD in Ecology and Environmental Science. Until his appointment, he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
His emergence came after a Senate vote during the 130th special session, where he was the sole nominee for the position. He received overwhelming support, polling 92 votes in favour and only two against.
The outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, whose tenure ended the same day, convened the session to facilitate a smooth transition of leadership. He underscored the need to prevent any vacuum in the administration while the process to appoint a substantive Vice-Chancellor is underway.
Prof. Ado hails from Kafur Local Government Area and was born on June 13, 1972, in Kankia LGA, both in Katsina State. His appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the university’s Director of Information and Protocol, Mr. Nasir Abdul.
