The Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has hosted a special reception in honour of three newly promoted professors, celebrating their academic accomplishments and encouraging a renewed commitment to research and mentorship. The event took place at the Council Chamber of the KWASU Business School.
The three honorees—Professor Sheu Abdulganiyu Salau, Professor Olayiwola Gafaru Olorisade, and Professor Moshood Zakariyah—attended the occasion with their spouses, Mrs. Aminat Abdulganiyu, Mrs. Folasade Olorisade, and Dr. Rahmat Folasade Zakariyah respectively. The gathering marked an important milestone in their academic journeys and a reaffirmation of the university’s commitment to academic excellence.
Congratulating the scholars, Professor Jimoh described the rank of professor as “the pinnacle of academic achievement,” while charging them to see it as a call to further service. “You have not just attained a title, you have stepped into a role of deeper responsibility,” he said. “As professors, you must mentor others, stimulate innovation, and contribute actively to the university’s strategic research goals.”
He noted that the university will remain open to supporting high-impact research proposals, especially those that align with the institution’s mission of community engagement and sustainable development. “Your promotion is not just about personal growth—it is about what you can give back to the university and to society,” Professor Jimoh added.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged the newly promoted professors to embrace interdisciplinary collaboration, stating that modern challenges demand solutions that transcend traditional academic boundaries. “We are looking forward to seeing research teams emerging from different faculties, driven by your leadership and ideas,” he emphasized.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted scholars, Professor Sheu Abdulganiyu Salau expressed deep gratitude to the university leadership for organising the reception. “We are sincerely honoured and thankful for this recognition,” he said. “This gesture is a strong encouragement to continue giving our best to the university and the academic world.”
Professor Salau also praised the KWASU administration for fostering an enabling environment where promotions are regular and merit-based. “Our promotion is proof that hard work and commitment are acknowledged here. It motivates us and others to be more dedicated to teaching, research, and service,” he remarked.
The event concluded with goodwill messages, light refreshments, and a reaffirmation of the university’s commitment to advancing knowledge and nurturing academic excellence. The celebration served as both recognition of individual achievement and an inspiration for younger academics within the institution.
