The International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB) has announced the launch of the fourth edition of its prestigious International Mobility Program (GCUB-Mob), offering more than 850 fully funded scholarship opportunities for international students pursuing Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Brazil.
In a statement issued by the organization, applications for the GCUB-Mob 2025 cohort will open on June 5 and close on July 13, 2025. The academic programs are scheduled to begin in 2026 and are being offered in collaboration with 58 Brazilian universities across the country.
The scholarships are open to applicants from all continents—Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and Europe—but exclude Brazilian citizens. Successful candidates will benefit from comprehensive coverage including tuition, academic fees, monthly living stipends, and free access to university services such as restaurants, libraries, and laboratories. However, the scholarship does not cover airfare, visa costs, or health insurance.
Interested applicants are allowed to apply for up to five different postgraduate programs at multiple Brazilian institutions. Applications must be submitted in one of four languages: English, Portuguese, French, or Spanish. Candidates must also upload a range of documents, including a valid ID, academic transcripts, curriculum vitae, essays outlining academic goals and a research proposal, and in some cases, proof of employment in higher education.
The selection process will be carried out in several stages. The first phase, which focuses on the consistency of submitted documents, will take place from July 21 to August 1, 2025. The second phase, involving merit-based evaluation and admissibility by host universities, will run from August 11 to September 6, 2025. Final candidate rankings are expected between October 13 and 17, with official confirmation by participating universities set for October 20 to 24. The final list of selected candidates will be published on the GCUB website on October 31, 2025.
The GCUB-Mob initiative is supported by several regional and international bodies, including the Guimarães Rosa Institute of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (IGR-MRE), the Organization of American States (OAS), the Organization for South Cooperation (OSC), and the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUALC), among others.
Master’s degree programs under the scholarship will run for 24 months, while Doctorate programs will span 48 months. The programme aims to promote academic cooperation, cultural exchange, and internationalisation of higher education.
