The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, is set to introduce a ticketing system to streamline student transportation between its campuses, in a bid to ease mobility and improve campus logistics.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Vice Chancellor, Professor I.H. Garba, follows the recent refurbishment of the university’s transport fleet. The newly overhauled buses will now offer subsidised transport services for students, aimed at providing affordable and reliable mobility across the institution’s campuses.
During an inspection of the vehicles, Professor Garba reaffirmed the university’s commitment to student welfare and the importance of practical support systems that ease the academic journey.
The development was facilitated through the active advocacy of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), led by Citizen Fahad Abdullahi. The union played a key role in pushing for improvements in the university’s transport infrastructure.
University authorities say the ticketing system will not only reduce stress for students but also promote efficiency and orderliness in the university’s daily transportation services. The scheme is expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks.
