The Federal Ministry of Education has officially launched the *EDU REVAMP Communities of Practice (CoPs)*, a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration, innovation, and professional development among educators in Nigeria.
The launch, which also marked the commencement of a training workshop for 80 selected teachers and ministry staff, was held under the theme *“Revamping Education through Collaboration, Innovation, and Practice.”* The event brought together education stakeholders and participants committed to enhancing teaching and learning across the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Minister of State for Education, a former teacher and Professor of Science Education, emphasized the vital role professional communities play in supporting educators. “These CoPs are more than just groups — they are platforms for sharing expertise, encouraging peer learning, and improving teaching practices,” the Minister said. “As someone who has been in the classroom, I understand the challenges our teachers face. That’s why these communities are designed to foster growth and innovation.”
The 80 participants, drawn from various parts of the country, were commended for their dedication and selected based on their passion for education, collaborative mindset, and leadership potential. “You are the pioneers of this new model,” the Minister added. “Your task is not only to learn but to return to your classrooms and communities as ambassadors, spreading the knowledge and best practices gained.”
The EDU REVAMP CoPs initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Federal Ministry of Education to revitalize the education sector through evidence-based practices, peer mentorship, and continuous professional development.
The workshop is expected to build a network of empowered educators who will champion change and promote excellence in Nigeria’s basic and secondary education systems.
