Nasarawa State is poised to host the upcoming 5th Federal Education Sector Games (FEDUGAM), scheduled for August 4–10, 2025, in Lafia. The announcement follows the visit of a two-member delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, aimed at finalizing preparations.
Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, officially received the delegation, which included FEDUGAM Consultant Chief Okeyinka Matthew and Technical Assistant Comrade Anthony Okoro. Yakubu expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry and the organizing committee for selecting Nasarawa based on its previous successful hosting experience in 2017.
The delegation confirmed that fifteen federal education-sector agencies will compete in a range of sporting events at the Lafia venue. As a token of endorsement and encouragement, they presented souvenir kits to Commissioner Yakubu, the Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, and senior directors within the ministry.
Nasarawa’s hosting follows Bauchi State’s successful organization of the 4th edition in August 2024. Bauchi’s event, flagged off by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, featured competitions in football, volleyball, table tennis, chess, scrabble, track and field, and more. The games aimed to promote unity, physical fitness, and workplace synergy among federal education agencies.
With Nasarawa State now formally confirmed as host, the region is gearing up to provide the infrastructure, logistics, and support required to ensure the 2025 edition matches and exceeds previous success.
