Philanthropist and community advocate, Mr. Olufemi Onireti, has expressed excitement over the performance of candidates he sponsored for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), noting significant improvement compared to previous years.
According to a press statement personally signed by Onireti, the results revealed that 34 out of approximately 100 sponsored candidates scored 200 and above, with 12 candidates achieving scores above 250. Notably, four students surpassed the 300-mark threshold, with the highest score being 326 recorded by Olarinde Love Olayemi. She scored 72 in English, 86 in Physics, 78 in Biology, and 90 in Chemistry.
The free-JAMB sponsorship programme was conducted by the Ogbomoso Progressive Elite Club (OPEC), with support from Onireti. The initiative, which covered candidates across the five local government areas of Ogbomoso land, was aimed at enabling promising students to access higher education without the barrier of financial constraints.
“Earlier this year, I sponsored JAMB forms for about 100 students across the five Local Government Areas of Ogbomoso land, as part of my commitment to supporting the dreams of young people in our community,” Onireti stated.
“I am pleased to share that the results are out, and 34 of these students scored 200 and above. Leading the pack is Olarinde Love Olayemi with an outstanding score of 326, while three other students also achieved scores above 300. This is truly a remarkable feat.”
Onireti, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), assured that all students who scored 200 and above would receive financial assistance if they gain admission into university, in line with his promise to support their academic journey.
“As promised, all students who scored 200 and above will receive financial support and guidance should they secure admission into universities this session. This is part of our effort to ensure that no hardworking student is left behind due to financial constraints.”
He reaffirmed his belief in education as a tool for sustainable community development, emphasizing that his support for indigent students would continue.
“I remain committed to supporting indigent students in our community because I believe education is the only channel to genuine and lasting community development. Together, we can build a brighter future,” he added.
The initiative forms part of the ongoing collaboration between OPEC and Femi Onireti, aimed at increasing access to tertiary education among underprivileged youths in Ogbomoso.
