Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Minister of State for Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, and former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, have showered praises on Olatunji Bello, Vice Chairman and CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), for his remarkable contributions to education and human development.
The accolades came on Wednesday during the official unveiling of the Olatunji-Bello Auditorium, a newly constructed 550-capacity facility at the Lagos State University (LASU) Epe campus, which was donated by Bello to strengthen educational infrastructure and foster academic excellence.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who commended Bello for his selflessness, described the donation as an extraordinary gift to both the institution and the state. According to him, the auditorium represents a bold step in enhancing the academic environment of LASU and will serve as a legacy for future generations of students and scholars.
“This modern facility is more than just a building; it is a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and intellectual engagement. It will serve as a hub for academic discourse, cultural exchange, and strategic gatherings,” the governor remarked, stressing that the project aligns with Lagos State’s broader vision of making education a key driver of development.
Minister of State for Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, who chaired the unveiling ceremony, also applauded Bello’s dedication to educational growth and urged other stakeholders, both private and public, to emulate his commitment to investing in learning spaces. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment under the Renewed Hope agenda to expand access to education and promote technology-driven learning.
“This auditorium is a shining example of what can be achieved through partnership and vision. The Federal Government continues to push for initiatives that elevate our education sector, and Bello’s effort here serves as a model for others,” Alausa stated.
Former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, equally lauded Bello, describing the project as a selfless gift that will serve society for decades. He praised Bello’s deep commitment to human development and his determination to contribute meaningfully to national growth through education.
According to Osoba, “This is not just philanthropy, it is patriotism. Olatunji Bello has chosen to invest in knowledge, and that is an investment that will yield dividends for the nation in the long run.”
In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, who is also the wife of the donor, expressed deep gratitude to the dignitaries present and celebrated her husband’s vision for education. She noted that the project aligns with LASU’s mission to provide a conducive environment for world-class teaching, research, and community service.
“This auditorium is a manifestation of my husband’s strong belief in the transformative power of education. LASU is proud to be associated with such a project, and it will forever stand as a symbol of his vision,” she said.
Bello, in his address, emphasized that the auditorium is not merely a physical structure but a legacy of vision, service, and faith in Nigeria’s future. He explained that his motivation stemmed from the conviction that education remains the most sustainable pathway to human development and nation-building.
