The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have committed to deepening their collaboration in areas of road safety education, data sharing, and transport-related research.
The commitment was made during a familiarisation visit by the new Niger State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Aishat Sa’adu, to the Vice-Chancellor of FUTMINNA, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
During the meeting at the university’s main campus, Corps Commander Sa’adu stated that the visit aimed to reinforce the existing synergy between the two institutions. She announced the FRSC’s readiness to provide students and researchers access to relevant data for transport studies and pledged ongoing support for the University’s Driving School. Sa’adu also requested the university’s continued cooperation in accommodating FRSC personnel who wish to pursue further education at the institution.
In his response, Vice-Chancellor Kuta affirmed the university’s dedication to the partnership, commending the FRSC for its past support in helping the university’s driving school meet national standards.
Looking ahead, Professor Kuta announced that FUTMINNA would periodically invite FRSC officers to deliver sensitisation lectures on road safety to staff and students. He highlighted the mutual benefits of collaboration, noting that the expertise of FRSC personnel would be invaluable to the university’s Department of Transport and Logistics and a planned new programme in Supply Chain Management Technology.
