The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has dismissed a Principal Assistant Education Officer, Mr. Amos Joshua, for alleged sexual harassment of a student at Government College, Azare.
The dismissal, announced after the Commission’s 32nd plenary session on Thursday, followed the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against the officer. The offence was classified as serious misconduct in violation of Rules 0327 (xxviii and xxix) of the Bauchi State Public Service Rules.
Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Alhaji Muhammad, said due process was strictly adhered to during the disciplinary procedures, in line with Rule 0317 of the Service Regulations.
“This decision is not punitive but a necessary measure to uphold discipline, integrity, and accountability within the civil service. It also serves as a reminder that professional conduct and adherence to ethical standards are non-negotiable,” Dr. Muhammad said.
In the same sitting, the Commission approved the promotion of two Deputy Directors in acting capacity to substantive Directors of Physical Planning and Development Control on Grade Level 16. A Chief Physical Planning Officer was also elevated to acting Deputy Director, Physical Planning, on Grade Level 15.
Similarly, 80 health workers, including Nursing Officers and Nursing Superintendents were promoted across Grade Levels 10, 12, 13, and 14.
The promotions followed recommendations from the Bauchi State Special School Management Board, the State Public Procurement and Physical Development Board, and the Health Management Board.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to fairness, transparency, and merit-based progression in the state’s civil service system.
