The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has initiated discussions with the Regional Labour Office in the Silesian Voivodeship of Poland to strengthen collaboration on Labour Studies, job creation, and career development.
The strategic visit, aimed at positioning NSUK as a leading centre for Labour Studies and workforce innovation in West Africa, focused on learning from Poland’s labour market model, which has maintained an unemployment rate of about 3% while attracting steady investment for job growth.
During her engagement with the Chief Regional Labour Officer, Professor Liman outlined the university’s vision to expand Labour Studies, enhance career-development programmes, and promote entrepreneurship as a means of tackling unemployment in Nigeria. She noted that adopting global best practices from the Silesian region would accelerate NSUK’s efforts toward building a dynamic and inclusive labour market research ecosystem.
In response, the Polish Regional Labour Office expressed readiness to partner with the university in key areas including labour policy research, curriculum development, employability skills training, and joint youth empowerment initiatives.
The proposed collaboration is expected to pave the way for academic exchange programmes, joint research, capacity-building initiatives, and labour market innovation projects benefiting both staff and students of NSUK.
The visit forms part of Professor Liman’s broader international engagement strategy to promote global partnerships, innovation, and sustainable development within the university.
