The University of Benin (UNIBEN) Management has officially announced that the ongoing 2025/2026 admission exercise will close on Friday, October 31, 2025, in line with the directive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the consensus reached at its Policy Meeting with Vice-Chancellors and other key education stakeholders.
According to the statement released by the institution, all candidates who have been offered provisional admission into various undergraduate programmes of the University are strongly advised to accept their admission offers before the deadline. Failure to comply, the management warned, will result in automatic forfeiture of the admission slot.
The announcement emphasized that the closure date aligns with the national admission timeline approved by JAMB, ensuring uniformity and fairness in the admission process across Nigerian tertiary institutions. UNIBEN’s management noted that the institution remains fully committed to transparency and merit-based selection in line with national policy standards.
Candidates are urged to promptly log into their JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) to accept or reject their admission offers and to follow up by completing the necessary internal registration processes on the University’s official portal. This step, the management stressed, is crucial to avoid future complications during clearance and matriculation.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, extended his warm congratulations to all newly admitted students, describing their success as a reflection of hard work, determination, and excellence. He also reassured parents and guardians that the University of Benin remains a centre of academic distinction and moral discipline.
Prof. Omoregie, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), further encouraged the new students to prepare for an enriching and transformative learning experience, promising that the University would continue to uphold its reputation for academic excellence, research innovation, and character development.
The Vice-Chancellor also expressed appreciation to the University Senate, academic staff, and administrative departments for their collective effort in ensuring a smooth and transparent admission process. He reiterated management’s commitment to maintaining the highest academic and ethical standards in student selection and orientation.
Management disclosed that the 2025/2026 Academic Session will officially commence on Monday, November 10, 2025, with all newly admitted students expected to resume on campus as bonafide undergraduates of the institution. The University community is already making preparations to ensure a smooth and welcoming transition for the incoming batch.
The statement further advised new students to regularly check the University’s official website and verified social media channels for updates on clearance schedules, orientation programmes, and accommodation arrangements, warning against falling victim to admission-related scams or unauthorized payment requests.
In a related development, the University urged those who are yet to verify their O’level results, upload credentials, or complete other admission processes to do so immediately to avoid disqualification. The institution reaffirmed that only candidates who meet all academic and procedural requirements will be fully recognized as registered students.
UNIBEN Management also used the opportunity to remind the public that admission is free of charge and should only be processed through approved JAMB and University portals. Any external solicitation or financial demand for admission slots is strictly illegal and should be reported immediately to the University authorities.
