The Vice-Chancellor of Mountain Top University (MTU), Professor Elijah Ayolabi, has reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering commitment to promoting scholarship that honours God and contributes to human advancement.
He made this known on Monday at the opening of the Annual Conference of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, held at the University’s Multi-Purpose Hall.
Professor Ayolabi described MTU as a faith-based institution with a divine mandate to nurture minds, inspire innovation, and uphold values that reflect God’s purpose across all spheres of learning and research. He noted that every academic pursuit at the University is designed not only to build intellectual capacity but also to serve as a channel through which God’s will for humanity is fulfilled.
The conference, which brings together leading scholars, researchers, and industry experts, provides a platform for exchanging ideas and addressing emerging scientific issues. The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, delivered the keynote address.
This year’s theme, “Science and Innovation in the Intelligence Age for Inclusive and Sustainable National Development,” aligns with MTU’s vision to foster research that addresses contemporary challenges and promotes national growth.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor urged participants to be purpose-driven in developing ideas, innovations, and policies capable of transforming lives and strengthening communities. He called on researchers to translate knowledge into practical solutions that have meaningful social impact.
The conference will continue with technical sessions and paper presentations focused on exploring the role of science and innovation in achieving sustainable development.
