PalmPay Nigeria Limited has unveiled a N10 million scholarship initiative for students of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), marking the beginning of the company’s nationwide tertiary education support programme. Under the scheme, 20 BUK students will each receive N500,000.
The Managing Director of PalmPay, Mr. Chika Nwosu, formally presented a symbolic cheque of N10 million to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, FSI, during a ceremony held on Wednesday, 19 November 2025. He said BUK was selected as the first beneficiary of the flagship scholarship programme in recognition of its status as one of the country’s leading universities.
Mr. Nwosu disclosed that PalmPay has set aside N2.4 billion to support students across more than 50 tertiary institutions in Nigeria. He explained that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to investing in its predominantly youthful customer base and contributing meaningfully to national educational development. He also expressed appreciation for the loyalty of BUK students and pledged continued support for young Nigerians.
In his remarks, Professor Musa commended PalmPay for its intervention, describing it as a commendable contribution to student welfare and institutional development. He reaffirmed the university’s readiness to deepen its collaboration with the company, particularly in corporate social responsibility initiatives and student empowerment.
To formalize the partnership, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, the PalmPay Managing Director, and the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Mukhtar Bunza, marking the official commencement of the scholarship programme.
