The FUOYE Alumni Leadership Retreat has officially commenced, marking the beginning of a transformative journey for the newly elected executives. The retreat kicked off with a series of insightful familiarization visits to key directorates within the university, aimed at equipping the incoming leaders with a deeper understanding of the institution’s inner workings.
The first stop was the FUOYE Medical Center, where the delegation was warmly received by Director Dr. (Mrs.) Adesina, who shared the center’s achievements, challenges, and areas requiring alumni support. This visit provided valuable insights into the university’s healthcare services and identified opportunities for collaboration.

Next, the team visited the Directorate of University Advancement, led by Prof. Oyawoye, who shed light on partnership development, alumni relations, endowment opportunities, and strategic fundraising initiatives. This session highlighted the importance of alumni engagement in driving institutional growth.
The final visit was to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, where the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Opoola, and University Registrar, Mr. Muftau Ibrahim, emphasized the critical role of the alumni body in enhancing FUOYE’s global visibility. These engagements served as a masterclass in good governance, institutional dynamics, and the responsibilities that come with leadership.
The 3-day leadership training continues today, with strategic sessions designed to equip the incoming executives for transformational leadership. Although a few new executives were unable to participate in yesterday’s visit, they are expected to join the sessions today.
The retreat is a testament to the FUOYE Alumni Association’s commitment to rebuilding, reconnecting, and redefining alumni leadership. As the association moves forward, it is poised to make a significant impact on the university and beyond.
The outgoing Global President, Comrade Temitope Arogundade, has expressed confidence in the new leadership, stating that this marks the beginning of a stronger, more united, and forward-thinking FUOYE Alumni Association.
The association has a rich history of supporting the university, including donating equipment and providing scholarships to indigent students. With its new leadership, FUOYE is set to achieve even greater heights.
The retreat is expected to conclude with a renewed sense of purpose and a clear vision for the future of the FUOYE Alumni Association.
