The Kaduna State Government has announced plans to renovate internal roads within Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as part of its support for critical institutions in the state.
The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, at the University’s Samaru Campus.
Dr. Ahmed said the initiative followed the directives of Governor Uba Sani, CON, who instructed KADRA to assess the condition of ABU’s road network and identify priority areas for immediate intervention.
“We are here on the instruction of His Excellency to inspect the internal roads and determine where the state government can intervene. The Governor considers it necessary to support ABU, being a premier institution in Northern Nigeria,” he said.
He assured the University that renovation work would commence as soon as possible after the assessment.
In his response, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adamu Ahmed expressed appreciation for the gesture and commended the Governor for what he described as unprecedented goodwill toward the institution.
“The listening ear His Excellency has given to us is something the University has never experienced before. Although he is not an alumnus of ABU, he has shown exceptional respect and support for this University,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
Prof. Ahmed was joined by senior management staff, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Bello Sabo; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Raymond Bako; Registrar, Rabiu Samaila; Bursar, Malam Mohammed Bello Aminu Gurin; Director of Public Affairs, Auwalu Umar; and the Campus Planner, TPL Abubakar Sani.
The visit marks another step in the growing collaboration between the Kaduna State Government and ABU toward improving infrastructure and enhancing the learning environment for students and staff.
