The Kaduna State Government has been commended for its commitment to staff welfare following the payment of outstanding salaries and allowances owed to members of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) at Kaduna State University (KASU).
The commendation was made when delegates of the association paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, ahead of the forthcoming Northwest Zonal Meeting of NAAT, scheduled to be hosted by KASU.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the NAAT Northwest Zonal Coordinator, Bamali Mukhtar Umar, expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for approving and effecting the payment of long-standing salary and hazard allowance arrears. He described the intervention as a clear demonstration of Governor Uba Sani’s worker-friendly and people-centred leadership.
According to him, the payment has significantly boosted staff morale and restored confidence in the government’s commitment to fairness, equity and improved working conditions within tertiary institutions.
While acknowledging the supportive role of the university management in facilitating the process, the NAAT leader also applauded the state government for recognising the critical role of academic technologists in teaching, research and innovation.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, welcomed the delegation and commended the Kaduna State Government for its responsiveness to genuine staff welfare concerns. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sustaining industrial harmony and supporting policies that enhance productivity and institutional growth.
Also present at the meeting were the Registrar, Barrister Samira Balarabe, and the Bursar, Hauwa Mohammed Dalhatu, who both described the government’s intervention as timely and impactful.
The NAAT delegation included representatives from several universities across the Northwest zone.
