The Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle Biodun Sanyaolu, has assured teaching and non-teaching staff in public secondary schools across the state of the government’s continued commitment to welfare packages and incentives, with particular attention to personnel serving in rural areas.
Sanyaolu gave the assurance during an interview with journalists in Abeokuta, stating that the present administration recognises the vital role teachers play in advancing the education sector in Ogun State.
According to him, students’ academic performance is largely dependent on the quality of service delivery by teachers, making staff welfare a critical priority for the government.
He disclosed that TESCOM has implemented several measures to enhance teachers’ welfare, including capacity-building programmes, performance awards, cash incentives, and improved rural allowances for teachers working in underserved communities.
“The Ogun State Government is proud of its teachers, particularly those in secondary schools, for discharging their duties diligently. They have made the state proud in many ways. TESCOM recognises these efforts and will continue to motivate them to boost their morale,” Sanyaolu said.
Speaking on the recent redistribution of teachers across secondary schools in the state, the TESCOM chairman explained that the exercise was designed to promote equity, balance, and fairness, while also preventing excessive workload on some teachers.
He appealed to affected staff to remain calm, noting that a Redistribution and Review Panel has been established to address complaints arising from the exercise.
“I want to assure teachers that their concerns are being carefully reviewed. Those with critical health conditions and other genuine issues will be given due consideration,” he added.
Sanyaolu reaffirmed TESCOM’s commitment to ensuring a motivated workforce capable of sustaining quality education delivery across Ogun State.
