The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has extended the registration period for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination into Technical Colleges, assuring candidates and stakeholders of a seamless and stress-free process.
The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Mr Aminu Mohammed, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Benin by the Board’s Deputy Director, Media and Protocol, Mr Uchechukwu Olisah.
According to him, the board has approved a four-month registration window to ease pressure on candidates and their families. Registration for the examination will commence on January 26 and close on May 24, while the examination is scheduled to hold nationwide on June 6, 2026.
Mohammed explained that the extended registration timeline followed the approval of the 2026 examination and registration framework by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, and was designed to allow adequate preparation, reduce congestion on the registration platform, and minimise financial and logistical burdens on parents and guardians.
He added that NABTEB had strengthened its administrative and technological systems to ensure a user-friendly, accessible, and disruption-free registration process.
“NABTEB has put in place comprehensive measures to guarantee a smooth and stress-free registration experience for candidates, parents, guardians, and schools, while maintaining the highest standards of examination integrity,” he said.
The registrar urged prospective candidates to register only through the official NABTEB online portal and warned against patronising unauthorised agents or third-party platforms. He advised candidates and guardians to complete their registration early to avoid last-minute challenges.
Reaffirming NABTEB’s commitment to professionalism and transparency, Mohammed said the board remained focused on expanding access to technical education while safeguarding the credibility of its examinations.
He further encouraged Nigerians to embrace Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), describing it as a pathway to employable skills, entrepreneurship, and economic self-reliance, and pledged continued collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to strengthen skills-based education and advance Nigeria’s human capital development.
