A school building collapse at Noemadic Primary School, Oke-Iragbiji, Iragbiji, Osun State, has left 2-3 teachers and students hospitalized. The incident occurred yesterday, sending shockwaves through the community.
Eyewitnesses report that the collapse happened suddenly, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The cause of the collapse is currently unknown.
The Osun State government has been urged to investigate the incident and take steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. A concerned citizen said, “The safety and well-being of students and teachers must be prioritized.”
The incident has sparked calls for action to address the issue of education infrastructure in Osun State. Many schools in the state lack adequate classrooms, furniture, and basic amenities, hindering effective learning.

According to a teacher who spoke to The Nigeria Education News this morning, he said, “Osun State has over 1,081 secondary schools, and the lack of infrastructure is a significant concern. The government must address this issue to ensure schools are safe and conducive for learning.”
The people of Osun State are awaiting the outcome of the investigation and are calling for accountability and transparency in addressing the issue.
He said again that, “the Ministry of Education, led by Hon. ‘Dipo Eluwole, has a responsibility to ensure schools are safe and meet required standards.
However, the government has assured the public that it is committed to strengthening public education and addressing teacher shortages.
Dr Tosin Joshua, and educational experts in Osun State said, “more needs to be done to address the infrastructure crisis in schools in Osun State.” The incident has raised concerns about the structural integrity of school buildings in Osun State.
