A lawmaker from Osun State, Bamidele Salam, has announced plans to give out free 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms to 700 prospective candidates across his constituency. The lawmaker represents Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency.
In a statement issued on Friday, Salam’s Senior Special Assistant on Education and Civil Society Matters, Umar Salman, explained that this initiative is part of the lawmaker’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to education and easing the financial burden on parents and guardians. “This intervention is crucial, especially in the face of prevailing economic challenges,” the statement read.
The statement further explained that beneficiaries would be selected across the four local government areas of the constituency, with a transparent and inclusive process to ensure fairness and equity. This process aims to support deserving students and promote education in the constituency.
According to the statement, interested students and admission seekers are advised to apply via https://forms.gle/z82avnxPqDRpawPZ9. The application window will close on Friday, 13th February, 2026, so interested candidates are urged to apply promptly.
Only shortlisted applicants who meet the selection criteria will be contacted via text message (SMS) by the Education Committee with further instructions. The lawmaker’s office has assured that the selection process will be fair and transparent.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Ogunrotimi, a lecturer from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, praised the lawmaker’s efforts, saying, “This is a commendable effort by Rep. Salam, and it will go a long way in supporting students in his constituency.”
Dr. Tosin Joshua, a lecturer from Adeleke University, Ede also commends Rep. Salam for this initiative and encourages other lawmakers to follow suit. “Education is key to national development, and initiatives like this will help promote academic excellence.”
