The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, Professor Babatola Ayodele, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to an uninterrupted academic calendar, assuring newly admitted students that they can complete their programmes within the stipulated duration.
Professor Ayodele gave the assurance while delivering his address at the matriculation ceremony for students admitted into the regular programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The ceremony, which took place on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the University’s Main Auditorium, formally inducted the fresh students as bona fide members of the EKSU academic community.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor said the university has maintained academic stability over several consecutive sessions, a development that allows students to plan their academic journey with certainty and clarity.
He stressed that EKSU remains committed to consistency in teaching, learning, and examination schedules, declaring emphatically that “four years is four years at EKSU,” a statement that drew applause from students and parents present at the ceremony.
Professor Ayodele attributed the sustained academic stability to effective collaboration among key stakeholders within and outside the university system. He particularly acknowledged the support of the Visitor to the University and Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, for his commitment to the growth and stability of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor also commended staff and students’ union leaders for embracing dialogue as a means of resolving grievances, noting that mutual understanding and continuous engagement have helped the university avoid disruptions common in many public institutions.
Addressing the matriculants directly, Professor Ayodele reminded them that admission into EKSU is highly competitive and should be treated as a privilege. He urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to academic excellence throughout their stay in the university.
He further encouraged the students to see their education as preparation for service to humanity, charging them to develop skills and values that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to national and global development. “The world is waiting for you to make a positive and enduring impact on the global society in the not-too-distant future,” he said.
While congratulating the students and their parents, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in Ekiti State University as a preferred destination for higher education.
He reassured all stakeholders of the university’s continuous commitment to delivering quality education in a conducive and student-friendly academic environment.
The matriculation ceremony also featured the administration of the matriculation oath and other formal rites marking the official admission of the students into the university.
The event was attended by members of the university management, academic and non-academic staff, parents, guardians, and well-wishers.
