The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External, with 71.63 per cent of candidates obtaining five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
The results were officially released on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
Speaking at the announcement, NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, disclosed that the results were released 52 days after the examination, which was conducted nationwide between Wednesday, November 26, and Saturday, December 13, 2025.
According to him, a total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 95,160 candidates eventually sat for it. Of this number, 50,785 candidates, representing 53.36 per cent, were male, while 44,375 candidates, or 44.63 per cent, were female.
Professor Wushishi revealed that 68,166 candidates secured five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, while 82,082 candidates, representing 86.26 per cent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
On examination malpractice, the registrar disclosed that 9,016 candidates were booked for various offences during the examination, compared to 6,160 candidates recorded in 2024, representing an increase of 31.7 per cent.
He further stated that five supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting examination malpractice. According to him, two of the supervisors were from the Federal Capital Territory, while one each was from Kano, Adamawa, and Ogun states.
The registrar also noted that candidates can access their results through NECO’s official portal using their result checker tokens.
Nigeria Education News reports that the release of the external examination results comes months after NECO announced the 2025 internal SSCE results in September, which recorded a lower performance in the number of candidates who obtained five credits, including English Language and Mathematics
