The Lagos State College of Health Technology, LASCOHET, has introduced a digital college management system and lecture attendance monitoring platform as part of efforts to strengthen academic delivery and improve institutional efficiency.
The initiative is designed to address challenges associated with manual attendance registers, delays in collating assignments, and difficulties in monitoring lecture delivery across departments. College authorities said the new system would streamline academic administration and enhance the overall teaching and learning process.
To ensure smooth implementation, the College organised a hands-on training session for academic and non-academic staff on the use of the digital platform. The session focused on class monitoring, staff and student attendance management, assessment administration, and examination processes.
The training was facilitated by Mr Oluwafemi Oladeni, a lead partner of the software development firm behind the platform. He demonstrated key features of the system, including digital attendance tracking for staff and students, class monitoring tools, Computer Based Tests for continuous assessments and semester examinations, and an Artificial Intelligence powered academic support feature. Participants were also introduced to a Digital Access Card system for staff and students enrolled on the platform.

Speaking at the event, the Provost of LASCOHET, Professor Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, emphasised the need for technology driven education in line with global standards. He urged staff members to embrace digital tools to improve accountability and service delivery within the institution.
The demonstration of the Digital Clock In system, which operates through a unique scan code using a mobile application, generated significant interest among participants. During the interactive session, some lecturers raised concerns about the need for stable internet connectivity to ensure seamless operation of the platform during lectures and assessments. The facilitators acknowledged the concern and noted that discussions on infrastructure support were ongoing.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the Deputy Provost, Administration, Mrs Oyeronke Uthman Izobo, commended the College management for the initiative and appreciated staff members for their willingness to adopt innovation. The College expressed optimism that the new system would enhance transparency, accountability, and the quality of academic service delivery.
