The National Business and Technical Examinations Board and the National Examinations Council have established a 10 member technical committee to coordinate joint operational and policy implementation in the administration of public examinations in Nigeria.
The development followed a high level strategic meeting between the two bodies held in Minna, Niger State. According to a statement by NABTEB’s Assistant Director of Media and Protocol, Uchechukwu Olisah, the committee will develop operational frameworks, harmonise strategies, and recommend implementation modalities to enhance collaboration. Its findings will be submitted to the chief executive officers of both agencies.
The meeting, hosted at NECO headquarters, brought together NABTEB Registrar Aminu Mohammed and NECO Registrar Dantani Wushishi alongside their management teams. Discussions focused on aligning examination timetables, strengthening supervision and examination integrity, improving logistics, enhancing information and communications technology integration, and promoting inter agency cooperation.
Olisah said the NABTEB registrar stressed the importance of sustained unity among public examination bodies as a catalyst for national development. He described the engagement as an opportunity to deepen institutional partnership through learning based collaboration.
Mohammed also advocated broader coordination involving other examination bodies, including the West African Examinations Council and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies, while recognising their unique operational mandates.
On his part, the NECO registrar described the meeting as a significant step toward strengthening institutional cooperation. He noted that NABTEB’s visit demonstrated goodwill and reaffirmed NECO’s commitment to renewed collaboration following Mohammed’s assumption of office.
