A digital marketing strategist, Jona Becky, has announced plans to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest social media marketing lesson by an individual, describing the initiative as a platform to empower Nigerians with practical digital income skills.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Indoor Sports Hall of University of Lagos ahead of the scheduled February 19 event tagged “Socialthon.” Becky explained that the initiative is designed to teach participants how to generate income using social media platforms, regardless of age or prior experience.
According to her, the programme aims to equip average Nigerians with the knowledge to earn between ₦50,000 and ₦100,000 monthly through digital marketing. She added that beyond the record attempt, participants will continue receiving mentorship through a WhatsApp community and live webinars to support long-term growth.
Sharing her personal journey, Becky recounted how financial hardship during her teenage years inspired her to leverage platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and YouTube to build an income stream. She said her early experience demonstrated that social media, when used strategically, can serve as a powerful economic tool.
The digital coach, who identifies as an advocate for Sustainable Development Goal 1 (ending poverty) noted that her training model is rooted in real-life case studies and hands-on experience rather than artificial intelligence-driven shortcuts. She emphasised that the record attempt is attendance-based and intended to showcase the scale of digital learning participation.
She further stated that her goal is to expand access to digital opportunities, especially for young Nigerians seeking alternative income pathways, stressing that consistent learning and application remain key to success.
The Nigeria Education News, which monitored the press conference, reports that the Socialthon event is expected to attract participants from diverse backgrounds eager to explore social media as a tool for economic empowerment.
