Key stakeholders have toured the ongoing 88-room students’ hostel project at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI), aimed at expanding accommodation capacity and improving student welfare.
The inspection, held on February 19, 2026, was led by the Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor T. O. Ogundiran, FAS, alongside members of the College Executive Committee. Also present were the immediate past Provost, Professor Olayinka O. Omigbodun, and members of the CoMUI/ICOMAA Hostel Building Committee, headed by Co-Chairperson, Professor Gbemisola Oke.
The delegation was led by Mrs. Vicky I. Falope, former Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Government, who visited the project site in the company of Venerable O. O. Olubodun and Mrs. Olufunmilola Fagbamiye.
The project, generously sponsored by Major General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, is designed to provide modern and conducive accommodation for medical students, addressing long-standing housing challenges within the College.
During the tour, stakeholders assessed the level of work completed and discussed timelines, structural quality, and the broader impact of the facility on academic life and student wellbeing. The initiative is widely regarded as a strategic intervention to strengthen infrastructure within one of Nigeria’s foremost medical training institutions.
College leadership commended the sponsor’s commitment to educational development and noted that the hostel project would significantly enhance the learning environment by providing safe and adequate accommodation for students.
The visit underscores ongoing collaborative efforts between alumni, benefactors, and institutional leadership to improve facilities and sustain academic excellence at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.
