The Student Union Government (SUG) of the University of Abuja has confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to an alleged rape case that recently sparked widespread concern across the institution.
In a statement issued by the union leadership, the suspect was reportedly arrested at about 6:52 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residential apartment within the University of Abuja Staff Quarters Extension in Giri.
SUG President, Comrade Yusuf Tobi Jamiu, confirmed the development, assuring students that the union is closely following the case and will ensure that justice is pursued.
According to the union, the arrest marks an important step in addressing the incident, which had generated significant discussion and concern among members of the university community.
Jamiu emphasized that the Student Union remains committed to protecting the interests and safety of students while allowing relevant authorities to conduct a proper investigation.
