The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has formally inducted over 500 graduates of the Faculty of Education, Ekiti State University (EKSU), into the teaching profession in a ceremony that underscored professionalism, ethics, and national development.
The induction ceremony, held in Ado-Ekiti, marked a significant milestone for the graduands, who officially took the oath of allegiance, thereby qualifying as certified professional teachers in Nigeria.
The Registrar of TRCN, Ronke Soyombo, who was represented at the event by Mr. Ighalo, administered the oath and charged the newly inducted teachers to uphold the highest standards of the profession. She urged them to remain committed to ethical conduct and professionalism, describing them as future leaders whose impact would shape society.
In his welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, T. K. Akinwamide, congratulated the inductees, noting that their academic training had equipped them with the knowledge and resilience required to excel in diverse fields. He encouraged them to uphold integrity, avoid complacency, and serve as role models in both educational and social contexts.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Babatola Ayodele, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. W. O. Adebayo, urged the inductees to take pride in the teaching profession and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Nigeria’s education sector.
He reiterated the importance of teachers in nation-building, invoking the popular maxim that “no teacher, no nation,” and called on the graduates to demonstrate commitment, discipline, and a sense of purpose in their careers.
The university leadership also commended the efforts of the Ekiti State Government, noting that despite prevailing socio-economic challenges, EKSU has continued to maintain a strong academic standing, including recognition in recent global university rankings.
The event concluded with commendations for the Faculty of Education and its staff for successfully organising the induction, which stakeholders described as a vital step in strengthening the quality and credibility of the teaching profession in Nigeria.
For the inductees, the ceremony not only marked the completion of their academic journey but also the beginning of a professional responsibility to educate, inspire, and shape future generations.
