The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced a new “Profiled Email” service aimed at helping candidates who have lost access to their registered SIM cards or need to update their email addresses on the examination platform.
The initiative is expected to address long-standing challenges faced by candidates who are unable to access their profiles due to lost or inactive phone numbers, a situation that has often disrupted registration, result checking, and admission processing.
According to the Board, the new service allows affected candidates to securely link a new email address to their existing profile, thereby restoring access to key services on the JAMB portal.
What the profiled email service means for candidates
The introduction of this system signals a shift toward more flexible and accessible identity recovery options within JAMB’s digital framework. Previously, candidates relied heavily on their registered SIM cards for profile access, making recovery difficult in cases of loss or network issues.
With the profiled email service, candidates can now bypass this limitation by using a verified email address as an alternative access point.
Steps to implement the profiled email service
To utilize the service, candidates are required to follow a structured process through approved centres:
Step 1: Obtain and complete the template (TEMPL 006)
Visit any accredited CBT centre
Request for the official template (TEMPL 006)
Step 2: Provide required details
Candidates must carefully fill in the following information:
Registration Number
Phone Number
Profile Code
New Email Address (must not have been previously used on JAMB platform)
Step 3: Declaration and attestation
Sign the declaration section on the template
Confirm that all provided information is accurate and valid
The Board emphasized that this declaration is necessary to ensure accountability and prevent misuse of the service.
Addressing past concerns
The rollout of the profiled email service comes after complaints from candidates in previous admission cycles who reported difficulties in resolving profile access issues, particularly when SIM cards were lost or deactivated.
While the new system is expected to streamline the process, stakeholders are hopeful that implementation at CBT centres will be more efficient and responsive than in the past.
Candidates are therefore advised to provide accurate information and complete the process early to avoid delays in accessing essential services such as result checking, admission status, and profile updates.
