Six students from secondary schools in Lagos Education District IV have been honoured with cash prizes following their impressive performances at a public speaking competition organised by the Shalom Shield Foundation.
Each of the outstanding participants received ₦30,000 after emerging among the top performers in the competition, which brought together 20 students from different schools across the district.
The event provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate confidence, communication skills, critical thinking, and public speaking abilities before educators and stakeholders.

The award recipients include Miss Sulaimon Fatiha of Ansar-Ud-Deen High School, Miss Udeh Divine Chidera of Sanya Senior Grammar School, Miss Bosah Nkechinyere Loveth of Ideal Girls Senior High School, Miss Jimoh Moridiyat Motunrayo of Eric Moore Senior High School, Master Godwill Gileod of Akintan Senior Grammar School, and Master Uka Chukwuemeka Clement of Gbaja Boys Senior High School.
Speaking during a reception for the students at the District Headquarters, the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary of Education District IV, Mr Olufemi Bamidele Paseda, praised the Shalom Shield Foundation for investing in programmes that promote academic development and student empowerment.
He described the initiative as an important platform for nurturing confidence, leadership, and communication skills among students beyond classroom learning.
Paseda also commended the students for distinguishing themselves through excellence and courage, while acknowledging the contributions of teachers, school administrators, and parents in supporting their success.
He urged students across the district to remain focused on their studies and continue striving for excellence, particularly as preparations intensify for the forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE.
The District boss further reaffirmed the commitment of Education District IV to supporting initiatives that encourage academic achievement, creativity, and personal development among learners.
