Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), Ijagun, has recorded another academic milestone as one of its lecturers, Miss Ruth Damilola Adeoye, won the Best Emerging Scholar Award at an international conference hosted by the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
Adeoye, a lecturer in the Department of French and a first-class graduate of the institution, earned the recognition during the 6th Biennial International Conference organised by UNIBEN’s Department of Foreign Languages.
The conference, held from May 17 to 21, 2026, brought together scholars, language experts, researchers, and academics from different institutions within and outside Nigeria to discuss issues surrounding literature, language, culture, and education under the theme, “Franco-Nigerian Literature, Language and Culture.”
Her award followed a presentation that drew commendation from participants and conference organisers for its scholarly depth, originality, and contribution to contemporary academic discourse.
Speaking after receiving the award, Adeoye described the recognition as a significant moment in her academic journey.
She noted that the conference provided an opportunity to engage with respected scholars and intellectuals whose contributions have shaped research and learning across generations.
According to her, preparing for the conference involved months of intensive study, revisions, and research work aimed at producing a paper capable of contributing meaningfully to scholarship.
She added that the experience reinforced the importance of mentorship, continuous learning, and strong academic engagement among young researchers.
Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor of TASFUED, Prof. Samuel Oladipo, praised the lecturer for representing the university excellently on an international academic platform.
He described the award as a reflection of the institution’s growing reputation in research, scholarship, and academic excellence.
Prof. Oladipo stated that the achievement further demonstrated the ability of TASFUED scholars to compete favourably within the global academic community.
He encouraged staff and young academics in the university to remain committed to quality research, innovation, and intellectual development capable of driving national growth.
The Vice Chancellor also expressed optimism that the recognition would motivate other scholars within the institution to pursue excellence in teaching, research, and professional development.
The conference concluded with calls for stronger international collaboration, mentorship opportunities, and sustained research partnerships aimed at strengthening knowledge production and societal advancement.
