The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued detailed guidelines for candidates participating in its 2026/2027 Post-UTME Aptitude Test, introducing strict examination rules as the institution prepares to conduct the screening exercise entirely online.
The aptitude test is scheduled to hold from July 27 to July 31 under a remotely proctored system, with the university warning that any violation of the examination guidelines could lead to disqualification or other disciplinary sanctions.
According to the institution, candidates are required to use only laptop computers fitted with built-in webcams and microphones, while the use of mobile phones, tablets, external cameras, smart glasses, headphones, wristwatches and other wearable electronic devices has been prohibited.
UNILAG also directed candidates to remain alone throughout the examination, noting that the presence of any other person within the examination environment would be treated as examination misconduct.
The university stated that candidates must ensure uninterrupted internet access, adequate lighting and a quiet environment during the test, stressing that the institution would not be liable for disruptions caused by poor network connectivity or power outages.
The 30-minute examination will begin immediately candidates click the “Start Examination” button and will be automatically submitted once the allotted time expires, regardless of any interruption experienced during the session.
To prepare candidates for the exercise, the university has made participation in a mock examination compulsory. The mock test, which will remain available until July 25, is intended to verify device compatibility, internet connectivity, webcam and microphone functionality, and familiarity with the examination platform.
Candidates are expected to use the same laptop, internet connection and examination environment for both the mock test and the actual screening.
The institution said the examination can only be accessed through its official application portal, the examination link sent via email, or the designated examination website. Candidates will also be required to install the Safe Examination Browser (SEB), which supports only Windows 10 and above or macOS Ventura and later versions.
UNILAG warned that applications or complaints relating to technical issues must be reported immediately through the “Need Help?” feature on the examination platform, adding that delayed complaints could affect subsequent investigations.
The university also reiterated that it has not authorised any cybercafé, CBT centre, business centre or individual to conduct or supervise the screening exercise on its behalf.
It emphasised that the only approved fee for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME screening is ₦5,500, comprising a ₦2,000 application fee and a ₦3,500 administrative charge.
The institution urged candidates to ignore requests for additional payments or claims by individuals or organisations purporting to act on its behalf, warning that anyone dealing with unauthorised agents does so at their own risk.
UNILAG added that it reserves the right to investigate cases of examination malpractice, impersonation, unauthorised assistance and identity fraud, stressing that its decisions on all matters relating to the screening exercise will be final.
