Maduka University, Ekwegbe-Nsukka, has achieved a major milestone in its pursuit of academic excellence after securing 100 per cent Full Accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for all seven academic programmes presented during the Commission’s 2025 accreditation exercise.
The accreditation exercise, conducted by the NUC between October and December 2025, assessed universities on key quality indicators, including academic staffing, curriculum implementation, teaching and learning facilities, governance, research capacity and institutional effectiveness.
Announcing the outcome, the university said all seven programmes evaluated by the Commission were granted Full Accreditation Status, with none receiving Interim or Denied Accreditation.
The development makes Maduka University one of the institutions to record a perfect accreditation outcome in the exercise, reaffirming its compliance with the NUC’s quality assurance standards for university education in Nigeria.
The programmes that received Full Accreditation are Accounting, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Economics and International Relations.
According to the university, the accredited programmes recorded evaluation scores ranging from 84.8 per cent to 97.0 per cent, comfortably exceeding the minimum threshold required by the NUC for the award of Full Accreditation.
The university noted that the strong performance reflected its sustained investment in qualified academic staff, modern teaching facilities, quality learning resources and effective institutional governance.
The Full Accreditation granted to the seven programmes will remain valid until 2030, subject to the National Universities Commission’s routine quality assurance reviews.
During the accreditation exercise, the NUC evaluation panels commended several aspects of the university’s operations, including its well-structured academic curriculum, effective programme delivery, compliance with the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) and the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS).
The panels also praised the university’s adequate library facilities, modern learning resources, conducive teaching and learning environment, strong quality assurance mechanisms and overall institutional capacity to deliver quality university education.
Education stakeholders say the accreditation provides further assurance to prospective students, parents and employers that graduates of the accredited programmes earn degrees that meet nationally approved academic standards and are recognised by Nigeria’s university regulatory authority.
Reacting to the achievement, the university management described the accreditation outcome as a testament to years of deliberate investment in academic excellence, innovation and student-centred learning.
The management expressed appreciation to the National Universities Commission for conducting a rigorous and transparent accreditation exercise and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to sustaining high standards in teaching, research, innovation and institutional development in line with global best practices.
