The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), has released its approved school fees schedule for the 2025/2026 academic session, outlining tuition charges for various academic programmes, additional mandatory fees and flexible payment arrangements for students.
The institution also encouraged eligible students to explore the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a means of financing their education.
Below are 10 key things students, parents and guardians should know.
1. Medical and Allied Health Science Students Will Pay ₦670,500
According to the approved fee schedule, students admitted into Medical and Allied Health Science programmes are required to pay ₦670,500 as school fees for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The amount covers the approved tuition and other institutional charges applicable to the programme.
2. Basic Science Students Will Pay ₦555,500
Students enrolled in Basic Science programmes will pay ₦555,500 as their school fees for the academic session.
The fee reflects the university’s approved charges for students within the faculty.
3. Acceptance Fee Is ₦20,000
All newly admitted students are expected to pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of ₦20,000 to confirm their admission into the university.
Payment of the acceptance fee is one of the requirements for completing the admission process.
4. O’Level Verification Fee Is ₦5,000
The university also approved an O’Level Result Verification Fee of ₦5,000, which forms part of the mandatory payments required of newly admitted students.
5. Medical and Allied Health Students Will Pay ₦695,500 in Total
After adding the acceptance fee and O’Level verification charge, the total amount payable by newly admitted students in Medical and Allied Health Science programmes is ₦695,500.
6. Basic Science Students Will Pay ₦580,500 in Total
For students admitted into Basic Science programmes, the total financial obligation, including all mandatory charges, amounts to ₦580,500.
7. Students Can Pay in Two Instalments
To ease the financial burden on parents and guardians, FUMMSA has introduced a flexible payment arrangement.
Students are permitted to pay their fees in two instalments, rather than making a single lump-sum payment.
8. Payment Will Be Split Between Two Semesters
Under the instalment arrangement:
60 per cent of the school fees is to be paid during the first semester.
The remaining 40 per cent is payable during the second semester.
The arrangement is intended to make payment more convenient for students and their families.
9. Eligible Students Can Apply for NELFUND Student Loan
The university advised eligible students to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to support the payment of their tuition and other educational expenses.
The student loan scheme is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve access to tertiary education by providing financial assistance to qualified students.
10. Parents and Guardians Encouraged to Plan Ahead
With the release of the approved fee schedule, newly admitted students, parents and guardians are encouraged to make adequate financial preparations ahead of the commencement of the academic session and ensure that all required payments are made within the timelines stipulated by the university.
