The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Choba, Rivers State, has officially commenced the registration for its 2025/2026 Post-UTME screening exercise, opening its digital doors to thousands of prospective students seeking admission into the institution. The university made this announcement via an official advert signed by the Registrar, Dr. Gloria O. Chindah, urging all eligible candidates to commence registration from Friday, July 11, 2025, to Friday, July 18, 2025.
Candidates who selected UNIPORT as their First Choice in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored a minimum of 150 are eligible to apply. The university emphasizes that any candidate who fails to complete registration within the stipulated time frame will not be eligible to participate in the screening exercise. This strict policy highlights the institution’s drive for efficiency and transparency in the admission process.
To register, eligible candidates are instructed to visit the university’s website www.uniport.edu.ng and follow the registration procedure. Upon visiting the portal, they must input their UTME registration number to verify their preloaded details. After confirmation, candidates are required to make a non-refundable payment of ₦2,000 via Remita using designated banks such as FCMB, UBA PLC, or UNIPORT-Choba Microfinance Bank.
After payment, candidates must retrieve the Remita receipt which contains the Access Code, a unique code required to log back into the portal and confirm the payment. With successful confirmation, they can then proceed to fill out the online screening form. Candidates awaiting their O’Level results must indicate this clearly during registration. On submission, they should print the Registration Slip, which will be required during the actual screening exercise.
Although the schedule for the screening exercise has not yet been released, the university advises candidates to monitor the website regularly for updates. This proactive approach allows UNIPORT to finalize logistics while giving candidates adequate time to prepare. Importantly, the registration process is entirely online, and students are advised not to visit the campus physically during this period.
UNIPORT also warned candidates to ensure consistency in their personal details. Discrepancies in names, photographs, or information across registration slips, O’Level certificates, and JAMB results may lead to automatic disqualification. Candidates must also be at least 16 years old by September 2025 to be considered eligible for admission.
To maintain order and integrity during the screening exercise, UNIPORT has placed a strict ban on the use of electronic devices, such as Walkmans, mobile phones, or any form of extraneous materials, within and around screening venues. Furthermore, parents, guardians, and uninvited security personnel will not be allowed into the campus during the screening period a standard measure aimed at reducing distractions and ensuring smooth conduct.
Candidates who initially selected UNIPORT as a second choice institution must officially change it to their first choice through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal if they wish to be considered. Only those who comply with this directive will be granted access to the application portal and be eligible for screening.
Prospective students are also strongly advised to register using their valid personal telephone numbers and active email addresses. This is crucial as all future communication from the university, including screening schedules, results, and further admission instructions, will be sent through those channels.
